I don’t know Sarah Sanders personally, but I find it hard to believe that she is as morally corrupt as Donald Trump. So it is unbelievable to me that she continues to make outrageous statements to cover for his bigotry and human indecency with zero regard for facts, decency or her own personal value.
In response to Trump’s retweets this morning of a far-right, anti-Muslim group in Britain, Sanders told reporters “Whether it is a real video, the threat is real. That is what the President is talking about, that is what the President is focused on is dealing with those real threats, and those are real no matter how you look at it.”
When pressed about the videos being fake, Sanders replied, “I’m not talking about the nature of the video. I think you’re focusing on the wrong thing. The threat is real, and that’s what the President is talking about.”
Sanders is starting to habitually mimic her boss’s M.O. of doubling down on statements or actions even when it is 100% clear that they are wrong rather than simply owning it, apologizing and moving on.
At some point a person in her situation has to choose between doing their job and maintaining integrity. She cannot keep lying, spinning and covering for a person who is void of character and morals under the veil of “it’s my job.”
If her job is worth more to her than her integrity then she is in the right spot sitting next to Trump, a guy who puts personal benefit above everything else, including the truth, integrity, or simple right vs. wrong.
Sanders is a young professional who has a long political career ahead of her if she separates from this disaster of a President soon and proves to the nation that she holds her values above a paycheck.
Standing with Trump, a human cancer, will cement her legacy as an immoral, low character, political dumpster fire.
